Food: March 2007 Mystery Food
The Mystery Food is an homage to those marvelous
school cafeteria lunches of yore.
This month there were many great guesses,
most of which centered around a couple of themes:
"an old potato?"
- Naya
"My guess is that it's a slice of a root
vegetable -- either taro or...maybe some sort of potato -- that's begun to
oxidize."
- Jean Eno
"potato skin?"
- Maureen Moore
Nope, it's not a potato or a root vegetable, although
it does have a potato-ish look about it, doesn't it?
"Is it a zoom-in on a bruise spot of
an old apple?"
- REJ
Ooooh. That's a good idea. That's not it, but
it's a good idea.
"I say it's french toast.. a lil on the
extra toasty side."
- Kristen
"I think your mystery food looks like
sumptuous cinnamon sugar butter, the kind I used to glop on my toast when
I was young. you know, melt so much butter on the toast till its
oozing off the edges. Then sprinkle cinnamon sugar till you cant
see anymore butter, which may require multiple passes as the sugar melts
into the butter. Bite into it and feel sugar granules going between
your teeth. Y U M."
- Laura M.
Nope, it's not french toast either. It's (insert
drumroll here) a closeup of an old banana peel!
Thanks to all for participating!
