Food: Popcorn Snowflakes

SnowflakesHere's a casual but elegant party desert that's perfect for back yard barbecues and football parties! Cool, delicate layers of rich dairy confection enrobe popcorn kernels, giving an irresistible combination of crunchiness and sweet creaminess with each bite!!!

Eh, who are we kidding? This is Tacky Living, right? You don't come here for elegant. (If you do or have landed on this page by mistake, perhaps you should check out Bon Appetit instead.)

No, what we have here is nothing more or less than popcorn stirred into a can of sweetened condensed milk, then frozen. The popcorn has absolutely no purpose other than acting as a carrier for the cloyingly sweet dairy goo. Freezing it merely gives one a brief window of time during which it can be popped in one's mouth without getting smeared with sugar.

This recipe has absolutely no redeeming nutritional or social value. Short of a stick of butter, it's probably one of the worst things you could possibly eat. In fact, it's so bad that we didn't even feel like photographing it.

Still want the recipe? Here you go:

Supplies and Ingredients

  • One can sweetened condensed milk
  • 1/4 cup popcorn, unpopped.

Making the snowflakes

  1. Pop the popcorn.
  2. Allow the popcorn to cool and separate out the unpopped kernels.
  3. In a bowl, combine the sweetened condensed milk with the popcorn.
  4. Spread the coated kernels across a cookie sheet lined with waxed paper.
  5. Freeze for an hour.
  6. Serve with an oily, unapologetic smile.

Recipe variation
Open a can of sweetened condensed milk and eat it with a spoon. If you feel like sharing, get out another spoon or two.
