Food: Dump Cake

This recipe is a fine example of a northeast Texas cooking genre featuring a variety of boxed or canned items thrown into a pan and cooked into submission.

The fact that the ingredients in this recipe are never actually stirred or otherwise handled elevates it to "classic" status.

Ingredients
• 1 box cheap yellow cake mix
• 1 can pie filling
• 1 stick melted margarine, high in the bad kind of fats
• 1/2 cup chopped nuts
• 1 16 oz can crushed pineapple or applesauce

Take a dump:
Pour the pie filling and canned fruit in a 13 x 9" baking pan. Sprinkle the cake mix on top. Pour the melted margarine over the top. Sprinkle the nuts on top of that.

Bake at 350 degrees until brown and amalgamated.
