March'00 Mystery Food   Mr. Worm

We have a winnah!

Ms. Laura Mappin of northern California correctly identified the above food object as a very old potato. She is the very first person to ever correctly guess the subject matter of one of our photos! This may be a direct result of her familiarity with garbage. (See an earlier article, Genius in the Can)

Some of the incorrect but fun guesses we received:

  • Raisin or prune
  • Fish skin
  • The skull/skin/eye sockets of a 1-month old corpse (Hmph. Well, maybe that one isn't so fun.)
  • What they fed you at work for lunch today
  • The healthy lichen that grows on the sides of rock faces 30 feet underwater in caves of Madagascar that divers who are short of nourishment practice breathe/licking swapping their regulators in and out as they grab a tongueful.
