Food: Incinerated Hot Dog Boats
Tanya A. Brown

For the story behind this recipe, see the related blog entry.

(California Proposition 65 Warning: This Recipe Contains Chemicals Known to the State of California To Cause Cancer, And Birth Defects Or Other Reproductive Harm)

Ingredients:

  • One package hot dogs (Beef is preferable to chicken or tofu because it burns a little better.)
  • One yellow onion, chopped
  • Grated yellow cheese (What type of cheese? Yellow!)
  • Barbecue sauce

Remember, the goal of this recipe is to render the hotdogs unrecognizable.

  • Turn on broiler to its maximum setting.
  • Slice hot dogs lengthwise to make "boats". Place in broiler-safe dish and broil until browned.
  • Fill hotdogs with chopped onion. Broil until hot dogs are almost blackened.
  • Smother with barbecue sauce and yellow cheese. How much of each? Darned if I know. Just pile the stuff on there until you can't see the remains of the hot dogs anymore.
  • Broil until cheese is melted and barbecue sauce is bubbling.

Accompany with instant mashed potatoes and store brand canned green beans.

Mmmmm. Chock full of sulfitey goodness!
